This brief text is the inspiration behind this very energetic song of praise, commissioned by the Western Territory Staff Band (Bandmaster Neil Smith) for the North American Brass celebration (Long Beach, CA May 21, 2016).
Featuring Original Music by the Composer that has been created in a spirit of praise and adoration and shaped in an uplifting manner to focus all attention upward to our God. Incorporated in this piece is the ever popular gospel song by Elisha Albright Hoffman (1839-1929),
Glory to his name?as well as a brief reference to one of the Salvation Army's most beloved settings of this same tune by Commissioner (Sir) Dean Goffin.
The composer has selected the first verse and chorus of the song as added emphasis to David's beautiful text:
Down at the cross where my Savior died,
Down where for cleansing from sin I cried,
There to my heart was the blood applied,
Glory to his name!
Glory to his name, glory to his name!
Now to my heart was the blood applied,
Glory to his name!
