Band Music for Evangelism
Edited by Dr. Dorothy Gates

Preface
This issue of the American Band Journal focuses on Easter Sunday Morning. This is a time of celebration for all Christians.

How Christians celebrate Easter has many variables. Different denominations have different traditions. The part of the world one lives in may dictate the style of Sunrise Services held or the location of worship services. Styles and content of music will vary based on tradition as well.

This American Band Journal offers diverse options for your brass band. Kenneth Downie's "Easter Festival Prelude" is stunning in its beauty and majesty and based on the traditional Easter Hymn.

Harold Burgmayer uses the hymn tune "Llanfair", also associated with the words "Christ the Lord is Risen Today", to make a joyful Easter Sunday Morning celebration with the help of Handel's "Hallelujah Chorus".

Dorothy Gates sets a Celtic scene with her arrangement of the modern hymn, "See What a Morning". This is a powerful and meaningful arrangement.

And, finally, if your place of worship is not a solemn one, you have "Loud Shroud" By Glen Welch, a new contributor to our journal. I invite you to read his 'note to conductors' and then enjoy his music celebrating the Resurrection.

All of this music celebrates the Risen Savior, each in its unique style.
