Following service in the British Royal Navy during World War II, Will Pratt decided to become a Salvation Army officer. His entire family had made the same choice; his father was the first Salvation Army officer killed on duty in England during the war.
Good communication has always been one of Will's most significant characteristics; humor was usually present in the process. His style lightened even the most mundane business letter. Most of his career was spend communicating the Army to the general public as he served as the Army's chief spokesperson, film documentarian, media liaison, author and editor. In 1978, Will and his wife, Kathleen, also a Salvation Army officer, were appointed to the United States where they rose to command the Army's work in the 13 western states. In 1984, they assumed that same position for Canada and retired from Toronto in 1990.
The Pratts, parents of two children and grandparents of four, now reside in Dorset, England.
