Band Music for Evangelism
Edited by Dr. Dorothy Gates
Preface
The ABJ Spring 2008 edition features four new interesting and varied settings that will prove to be popular and inspirational. Stephen Bulla has been an arranger with the United States Marine Corps "President's Own" Band in Washington, D.C. over a span of three decades. His march Red Bank is written and crafted in his own inimitable style. Major Thomas Mack's song By His Hand has been translated into many languages and has been sung throughout the world. This song arrangement for brass band will enable the message of this song to reach an even wider audience.
New York Staff Band composer-in-residence Dorothy Gates contributes a song accompaniment entitled At The Name Of Jesus that has been used with good effect as a congregational song at recent Staff Band music festivals. The name Don Moen is synonymous with Praise and Worship music in the USA. His song Mighty Is Our God, co-written with Eugene Greco and Gerrit Gustafson, has been arranged by Nick Simmons-Smith of the USA Southern Territory, a first-time contributor to the American Band Journal.
May God bless this music and the musicians who use it in ministry.
Ronald Waiksnoris
Territorial Music Secretary
